The Dengue IgM and IgG Antibody, Rapid test is a qualitative immunochromatographic assay performed on human serum for the simultaneous detection of IgM and IgG antibodies against Dengue virus. The test is based on the lateral flow immunoassay principle, where dengue-specific antigens immobilized on the test strip capture IgM and/or IgG antibodies present in the patient’s serum, producing visible colored lines. Dengue IgM antibodies generally appear approximately 3–5 days after the onset of fever and indicate recent or primary infection, while IgG antibodies usually appear later and may suggest past exposure or secondary infection. A positive result for IgM and/or IgG should be interpreted in correlation with clinical findings and other laboratory parameters, and a negative result does not completely rule out dengue, especially in the early phase of illness.
