The Fasting Insulin test is a quantitative immunoassay performed on serum to measure insulin levels after an overnight fast. It is used to evaluate pancreatic beta-cell function and to assess insulin resistance, prediabetes, and diabetes mellitus. This test also helps in the investigation of metabolic syndrome, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and hypoglycemic disorders.
