The Dengue IgG Antibodies test by ELISA is a qualitative or semi-quantitative immunoassay performed on human serum for the detection of IgG antibodies against Dengue virus. This test is based on the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) principle, where dengue-specific antigens coated on a microplate bind to IgG antibodies present in the patient’s serum, followed by the addition of enzyme-labeled conjugate and substrate to produce a measurable color reaction. Dengue IgG antibodies generally appear after the first week of infection and may persist for months or years, indicating past infection or secondary dengue infection. A positive result suggests previous exposure or secondary infection, while results should be interpreted in correlation with clinical findings and other dengue markers such as NS1 antigen and IgM antibodies.
